Created to mark the twentieth anniversary of Ashton Cigars, Ashton Estate Sun Grown ESG is a focused, limited-production collection made in the Dominican Republic by Tabacalera A. Fuente. The line is built around an uncommon Dominican sun grown wrapper harvested on Chateau de la Fuente, the same celebrated estate associated with some of the Fuente family’s most prized tobaccos. Beneath that wrapper, ESG uses aged Dominican binder and filler tobaccos, giving the series a distinct identity within the broader Ashton portfolio.
That wrapper is central to the character of Ashton Estate Sun Grown ESG. Rather than presenting sun grown flavor as raw strength, the blend is known for combining richness and polish, with a full-flavored profile that typically shows cedar, leather, baking spice, earth, and a measured pepper note over a notably refined texture. The various Salute vitolas share that same blend foundation, so the line is generally approached as one of Ashton’s more substantial and celebratory expressions without losing the balance associated with the brand.
ESG has also earned meaningful critical recognition over time. The Ashton Estate Sun Grown 20-Year Salute was named a Top 25 Cigar by Cigar Aficionado in 2006, an early confirmation that the anniversary release had become more than a one-time commemorative project. I had just order these a couple weeks ago and had to have one. I will let the others rest a few months. I have had many different Ashton but this definitely stands out. I definitely will say it's a big cocoa flavor but not to much and just the right pepper flavor. Of course burning and cigar structure are perfect like I would expect from Ashton. Ashton products speak for themselves that's why I always have a few in the humidor. Once again thanks for the super fast shipping.
