The Vegas Cubanas from My Father Cigars are back after years of being off the market. The Vegas Cubanas brand are now a regular production cigar line. Vegas Cubanas was first produced by José "Pepin" Garcia in 2003 when he was making cigars at the El Rey de Los Habanos factory in Miami's Little Havana.
According to My Father Cigar Company, the filler and binder tobacco for Vegas Cubanas is harvested at the Garcia family's farms in Nicaragua (EstelĂ and Jalapa). The origin of the wrapper is unknown, but it is said to be a Corojo wrapper, making this a medium bodied cigar but full in flavor. The Vegas Cubana is elegant and classy, from its perfectly constructed triple cap, to its beautiful label. The Rosado wrapper is slightly veiny with a reddish hue. No surprise on the construction; It has a well formed foot and no soft spots. The pre-light aroma is of sweet cedar and a bit of earthy spice. This Robusto has that signature Pepin spice when lit, yet this initial blast of pepper eventually mellows out until the transition into the last third. This little beauty makes cigar smoking a joy for the novice as well as the experienced pallet of a seasoned cigar smoker.
