Rocky Patel created Emerald as a softer side of box-pressed smoking without stripping away character, and the Toro shows that idea especially well. This 6 1/2 x 54 cigar is built with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over dual binders from Nicaragua and Mexico, then filled primarily with Nicaraguan tobaccos accented by a leaf from Honduras' Jamastran Valley. The blend is handmade in Nicaragua and aimed at the lighter side of medium-bodied, giving it a more measured profile than many fuller Rocky Patel releases.
Expect a balanced smoke with a lively natural sweetness, touches of spice, cedar, and earth, backed by enough richness to keep it interesting without becoming heavy. The box-pressed Toro offers a substantial feel in hand and generally smokes for about 75 to 95 minutes at an easy pace, making it a strong fit for smokers who want nuance and flavor in a more restrained medium-bodied format.
