Oliva Serie O Toro Oliva Serie O has been harvesting 92 ratings by the Cigar Snob magazine just like the Oliva Serie G, and for very good reasons. Grown and produced under the same demanding standards the Oliva Serie O product line is just as good. But The “O” is made under a different strategy, namely the good old Cuban way of making “puro” (pure) cigars, that is, using a tobacco mix from the same country. The “O” sports a dark oily Piloto Cubano Nicaraguan grown wrapper and similar blend. This blend was achieved by growing Habano in the Esteli, Condega and Jalapa Valleys of Nicaragua. This combination produces distinct nutty flavors with notes of dark tobacco layered with spice and rich cedar that will have you longing for more. Like every Oliva cigar the Oliva Serie O exhibits an intense, complex and aromatic profile. This puro is always smooth and never overpowering. Alec Bradley Tempus Centuria If you ask cigar insiders what they consider to be the best Alec Bradley release, the Tempus would rank as one of the highlights of the Alec Bradley lineup. Alan Rubin based the release on a unique tobacco used for the Honduran Criollo wrapper, a leaf he discovered in a little farm in Honduras, back in 2001. The leaves have been aging for a very long time which inspired Rubin to name the brand Tempus or TIME in Latin. The wrapper is unique, with a rich, deep brown hue, slightly reddish, silky to the touch, and oily to boot, the lead provides rich, dark chocolate notes mixes with a slight nutty aroma. Rich in flavor and smooth in character, the blend consists of a combination of Corojo and Criollo filler from the Trojes region of Honduras, just north of the Nicaraguan border. Bradley’s Alan Rubin originally intended this blend for their Maxx brand, but was concerned with getting a consistent supply of the new tobaccos developed for the Tempus so he released it as a limited release instead.
Romeo y Julieta Reserve Toro The Romeo y Julieta Reserve comes in slightly darker boxes, sporting the famous Romeo logo. Unlike the plain Romeo, the Habana Reserve is Handmade in Honduras at the Flor de Copan factory. It is a full-body cigar, setting a new record for the famous line. The smoke is distinguished by a rich blackberry and elder flower aroma. With walnut, vanilla, molasses and subtle hints of clove. Finishing it off with a smooth elegant yet creamy smoke, the way only the best Honduran tobacco can create. Indeed, the structure of the Habana reserve is marvelous. Fine, succulent silky wrapper leaves coating an interesting combination of Nicaraguan Honduran blend. It all adds up to a great cigar at a great price.
