The American Classic was a Tampa-style cigar of the early 20th century that was affordably priced, smooth, sweet and complex. Now, Alec Bradley is reviving this brand!
Alan Rubin rolled the cigar out in July. It is a mild- to medium-bodied cigar made by Nestor Plasencia's Segovia factory in Estelí, Nicaragua with Nicaraguan filler, Nicaraguan binder and a Connecticut-seed Honduran wrapper. When asked how Rubin, at 49 years old, could possibly know what a cigar from the Teddy Roosevelt administration would have tasted like, he told Cigar Insider: "I've smoked some very old cigars, vintage cigars. A very delicious medium stick that will have any seasoned smoker perplexed and astonished with how well the flavors develop into the final 3rds.
Prelight and wrapper has hints honey oats. The smoke stared off nothing crazy on a meduim black pepper and woodsy note, the finish had a pleaseant acron flavor that lingered. Smoke was cool throughout the entire stick. I got hints of pistachio musk, grassy earth, charred oak, cedar and pine well into the 2nd and final 3rds. Honey oat bread was consistent throughout. Stick had one of the best final 3rds as the flavors did a little dancing with orange citrus skins, leathery, nut meg and cinnamon sweetness. All-in-all, thought it was a A++ smoke I'll be stocking up on. Another home run for the Humidor!

I picked up this stick at my local humidor. As you can see from the pic, it started unwrapping as soon as I cut it. I was able to get by lips over the damaged wrapper so I was able to save the stick. Above average stick. Very nice flavors and very smooth. Burn was perfect. I'll probably give this another chance.
