Description

Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 is one of the defining releases in the brand’s long-running Vintage Series, a collection built around well-aged wrapper tobaccos and a more measured, balanced style than many of Rocky Patel’s fuller-bodied lines. This cigar is made in Honduras and is distinguished by its 12-year-old Honduran Broadleaf wrapper, a detail that gives the line much of its identity. The blend is typically presented as medium-bodied, with a profile centered on cedar, coffee, earth, and a restrained sweetness rather than raw intensity.

That emphasis on age and composure helped establish the line as an important early Rocky Patel release, and it remains closely associated with the company’s transition into the Rocky Patel Vintage portfolio. Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 has also earned lasting critical recognition, including a 92-point rating from Cigar Aficionado and placements in the publication’s Top 25 Cigars of the Year in 2004 and 2006. As a collection, it is known for combining mature wrapper character with a smoother Honduran presentation that set the tone for the Vintage name.

Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Churchill

Don’t judge a cigar on its cover

At a glance, the Cigar looks strong especially the box press but looks can fool you in the Cigar world. i’ve had Cigars with their buttery looking Connecticut rappers give me the finger and say something about my mother after a Puff. This Cigar after you smoke it will come at you a different way then that. The construction of this Cigar made for a well satisfying Puff. I like to prime before I puff. What I got out of this Cigar was my moneys worth, the flavor wasn’t strong but soft, smooth, rich and silky. The Churchill gave a nice long burning time. The finish was so good. and elegant that I had to stop before I burned my mustache. The cool thing is that Mike’s will sell you (one) or navigate the site and find a sampler. Dammit these taste good with brownies.

Great Cigar

I have been smoking fine cigars for many years. I recently found a lone Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 in my humidor. After smoking about 1/2, I realized that it was probably one of the very best cigars I’ve ever had.

Approachable Cigar

A solid performer with a good draw and fine burn; notes of dark cocoa, earth & spices; smooth smoke.

Hallelujah!

I have other reviews for petits and cigarillos on mikes. They were written before I smoked these. These are the best, the camacho corojo and partagas blacks are good but not this good. These sacrifice nothing in taste, if anything they're amplified, and are sold at a reasonable price. The only petite id put above them is the davidoff Winston Churchill petit pantela and they're twice the price. Oh, and yeah they're strong, they will give you a buzz, cant believe they've been down voted and aren't 5 star because of that...

Best Vintage 1990

In my opinion these are the best sticks to come out of the 90 vintage line. A lot of people will disagree with me but I'm a power smoker... A power smoker who not always has a lot of time. The intensity of these little cigars will put sticks three times their size in a run for their money.

Rocky Patel Vintage Robusto Sampler

3 out of 4

I like them heavy and I like them full. I kept the 90s and the 93 and gave the 99 to my brother. Honestly the 99 is nice but it doesn't do anything for me strengthwise. He thinks he's a cigar smoker so I let him smoke that and watch him while he says.... "oh man this is strong".....and kill myself laughing

Picky

Honestly this is one of the very few Rocky Patel that I enjoy. Most of his stuff is just bland and repetitive but this 90 was and is still one of his greatest achievements

Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Petit Corona

Petit 1990 Rocky

One hell of a cigar. Everybody runs after the big sticks and I go to the opposite direction. Anytime I can find 46 and down gauges from Rocky that's my go-to. This petite 90 is stocked to the brim with chocolate hickory and cedar. Highly recommended.

Fantastic flavor, medium strength

I bought these in a Robusto size and was so happy with flavor and medium strength, that I bought another pack in the Toro size. Definite taste of dark chocolate along with the earthy and mellow tobacco flavors. Construction, draw and burn were near perfect.

Great cigar

I truly enjoy smoking this cigar. It has a robust complexity of earthy and woody notes and smooth tones of coffee and light pepper. Cigars burn even and with a great draw in which it's constructed very well. You won't be disappointed.
