Rating80%Romeo 505 Nicaragua by Romeo y Julieta ChurchillApproachable, Soft and SimpleThis cigar appears to have seen a lot of traffic here, so it's time I jumped on the bandwagon and gave my two cents. I'm looking at a flat brown wrapper with nothing particularly remarkable standing out to me. It's matte and soft with no grit. I'd give this stick a 2/5 for firmness so it's got a little squish to it. "Semi" box pressed...not a sharp square but noticeably non-circular. I swear it feels thinner than a 50, but that's what the literature says. I was actually surprised when I first unwrapped these as they have much more of a lancero character than a churchill. I happen to love lanceros, so that suits me just fine.
Most of these have a fine draw and produce a solid, mostly white ash. They often behave as if they will canoe, but never really turn into chaos, so construction is pretty good. By my lingo, this is a "chewy" cigar. I can sink my teeth into it. It's soft and the flavors reflect that. Mostly milk chocolate for me, like a Hershey's bar. It flirts with white pepper spice but never goes very far. A little vanilla and hints of unbaked cookies, but also some meaty savoriness like beef tips and gravy. It doesn't taste particularly woody...just a very soft and neutral flavor palate on the sweet side as cigars go. I would put this in the beginner category for smokers. Safe, inoffensive but pleasant while not being particularly complex.
I will say that these benefitted tremendously from some humidor time. I am currently smoking my final stick from the box and it is the best one because it marinated the longest. The final third is certainly the best part about this stick. I wouldn't mind if these were a little cheaper for what you're getting, but the price is not unreasonable. I probably wouldn't buy another box, but I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if someone gifted them to me. All in all, a respectable smoking experience.By Sluiceyourgob

Consistent flavor throughout burn down to two fingers. Solid construction throughout. Great draw, firm, but full, with lots of smoke. A pretty even burn, but had to touch up the wrapper 3 times during smoke. A good 1 hr 20 min smoke. Pairs well with Shenk’s Kentucky Sour Mash. YUM!
