Flor de Las Antillas is a delicious smoke right from the first puff, “with notes of nutmeg, white pepper and just enough strength without being overpowering. They are hard to put down. This box pressed treasure is Jose Garcia's premier sun grown offering. The Flor de Las Antillas is hand crafted at the Garcia’s My Father Cigars S.A. factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, where brands such as My Father, La Duena and Tatuaje Havana VI are made. Medium to full bodied this Nicaraguan puro is another work of art from Pepin. The Flor de Las Antillas cigar has scored ratings of 90 or better across the board by Cigar Aficionado. The magazine went on to describe the Flor de Las Antillas Belicoso cigar as “Nearly flawless in appearance, this pressed belicoso is full of toasty, oaky notes that frame a nutty core. Nutmeg and marzipan resonate on the finish.”
The cigars start off with the signature My Father spice and has a rich cocoa flavor. Producing a beautiful white ash and an amazing finish. The cigar features a full Nicaraguan blend of tobacco from wrapper to filler. This is what gives the cigar the spice, strength and flavor that you find when smoking it. The key ingredient to this is the Sun Grown wrapper. That's grown in Namanji in Esteli, Nicaragua on the Las Marias farm that's owned and operated by the Garcia Family. This Sun Grown wrapper is important as it provides a lot of the flavor and spice to the cigar and some extra strength to it as well.
These cigars are also boxed pressed. When the cigar is boxed pressed this allows the smoke to combine with air from the outside of your mouth when taking a draw. This allows the smoke to cool so that it will not smoke so hot. Reviews are spot on - nutmeg and espresso.
Smooth, consistent burn and even draw throughout entire smoke.
Nicely wrapped - just tight enough.
The only downside... is smoke it slowly near the end... savor it lest you get it too hot near the end and it gets a little bitter.. but that's on me. Maybe bc I'm too excited to light another one.
