Bring out the keys to your classic hot rod, because this is the cigar you’ve been waiting for. The CAO Flathead Cigar Collection is inspired by the classic hot rods of the 50’s and 60’s. Now you can truly go back in time and experience the heyday of American Muscle Cars with this cigar collection from CAO.
The Flathead cigars come in a variety of Muscle car themed sizes, including the V660 Carb, V642 Piston, V554 Camshaft, V450 Spark Plug, and V770 Big Block. All sizes come box pressed with a Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper, Ecuadorian Connecticut Binder, and a blend that’s heavy on Nicaraguan and Dominican long leaf fillers.
CAO is known for their unconventional packaging methods make them stand out from the pack, Flathead continues this trend and gives the ultimate nod to the muscle car engines of the past. There is also a collectible, pin-up girl flysheet that comes enclosed with every box.
The lid is removable and can be used as wall art, resembling an old school engine block from the 50’s and 60’s. Best part is you won’t have to deal with pesky oil leaks and having to grease up, all you need to do is put on your leather jacket, grab a box of Flatheads and head out on the town in your ’51 Chevy Belair.
CAO’s senior brand manager Ed McKenna explained the motivation behind the line like this:
“Rick Rodriguez and I were always talking about the great people we’ve met at CAO events across the country, and about the conversations we’ve had with them. It didn’t take us long to realize that the conversations were always about the same things: Cigars, Cars and girls. Not necessarily in that order. So that’s what led us to come up with Flathead”
CAO Flathead Rated #3 with a 95-Rating in Cigar Aficionado Magazine’s Top 25 Cigars of 2015 List!
Cigar Aficionado had this to say:
"The cigar is a gutsy blend that starts with a dark Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, a Cuban-seed binder also grown in Connecticut and a combination of Nicaraguan ligero and Dominican Piloto Cubano tobacco. If Rodriguez and McKenna intended the blend to reflect hot rods and muscle cars along with the packaging, we’d say they delivered.
The name Carb 660 is named after the carburetor of a combustion engine and 660 indicates the length and ring gauge. From the first light, this seriously squared-off cigar takes off with notes of ripe fruit, leather and molasses that only gain intensity as it smokes."
