Mikes refers to Mike’s 1950, a private-label cigar created to mark the long history of Mike’s Cigars, which traces its roots to a Miami Beach shop opened in 1950 by Mike and Albert Mersel. The brand was introduced in 2005, with Manuel Quesada commissioned to blend and produce the line as part of Quesada’s own anniversary period, giving it a clear connection to both retailer heritage and established Dominican cigar making.

The blend is built around Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos and is handmade in the Dominican Republic with a Honduran wrapper. That composition places Mikes in a smooth, approachable part of the premium market, with a profile centered more on balance and everyday refinement than on heavy strength. These smokes were very good with just a few in the bundle that were wrapped to tight and didn't draw very well, All and all I thought they had a very good taste.

You get what you pay for, never again.

Purchased 3 weeks ago. Upon arrival I opened the package and discovered that all of the cigars were hard. I upped the humidity in one of my humidors to help recondition them. After 3 weeks of high humidity they are still hard.
Whoever rolled these cigars didn't know what they were doing. Very hard draw.

Flavor not bad, but the construction is lacking. I've had a few so far that are to tight to even smoke, and a lot of them are just really tight. Have only had a few that acrually smoke well.

I have ordered this before with satisfaction, not likely to reorder, 1/3 of the sticks are $35 a bundle! 1/3 modest, and 1/3 good. Seems Mike has a low standard for premium.

Mike's 1950 Toro

Excellent Surprise!

This 1950 has been rolling around in my humidor for months. It came in a sampler. Finally gave it a try, and what an excellent surprise. A little fuller bodied than my usual smoke (I’ve been thinking of changing my ways), and this cigar really opened my taste buds to what I’ve been missing. Just ordered a box!
