The Best Cigar Samplers for Holiday Gifting (2026 Guide)
Holiday Gift Guide · 2026
Buying cigars for someone else sounds easy until you’re staring at hundreds of choices and trying to remember whether they like Maduro, Connecticut, Robusto, Churchill — or something you’ve never even heard them mention.
That’s exactly why we like cigar samplers for holiday gifts. Instead of betting the entire present on one box, you’re giving them a selection to explore. There’s something to open, something to compare, and usually more than one cigar they’ll be excited to smoke.
For this 2026 holiday guide, we picked sampler gifts for different kinds of cigar smokers — from an affordable stocking stuffer to something a little more special for the person you really want to impress.

Why Cigar Samplers Make Such Good Holiday Gifts
Cigar preferences get personal pretty quickly. One smoker loves a dark Maduro wrapper; another reaches for something creamy and mild. Some want a long after-dinner smoke, while others would rather have something they can enjoy in under an hour.
Unless you know someone’s humidor almost as well as they do, choosing an entire box can involve a fair amount of guessing.
A sampler takes some of that pressure away.
Instead of saying, “I hope I picked the right cigar,” you’re giving them several cigars to try. For someone who’s still discovering what they like, that’s part of the fun. For an experienced smoker, a sampler can introduce something they haven’t reached for before.
One thing to remember: sampler selections can change as inventory changes. If you’re buying a specific sampler because it feels perfect for someone on your list, check the current product page before ordering.
How to Choose a Cigar Sampler as a Gift
You don’t need to know everything about cigars to choose a good sampler. Start with what you know about the person.
Think about strength. If they regularly enjoy dark, rich cigars, a Maduro-focused sampler makes sense. If you’re unsure, variety is usually the safer choice.
Think about smoking time.A Churchill is made for a longer session. Shorter formats can be easier for the smoker who enjoys a cigar after work or on a weeknight.
Think about the occasion.A smaller sampler works beautifully as a stocking stuffer or add-on. For a main gift, choose something that feels a little more substantial.
When in doubt, choose variety. If you have no idea what they normally smoke, a mixed sampler lets them decide what they like instead of making the decision for them.
The Best Cigar Samplers for Holiday Gifting in 2026
Rather than ranking these from one to six, we matched each sampler with the kind of person we’d actually give it to.
Affordable Gift Pick
October Burn Cigar Sampler
$30.95*
You don’t have to spend a fortune for a cigar gift to feel thoughtful. October Burn is the kind of sampler we’d reach for when we want something more interesting than another generic stocking stuffer without turning it into a major purchase.
It also works nicely as an extra gift — especially if the main present is a cutter, lighter, ashtray, or something else for the humidor.
Best for: stocking stuffers, Secret Santa, coworkers, or the cigar smoker who somehow already buys everything for himself.
For the Maduro Lover
Monster’s Maduro Reserve Cigar Sampler
$30.95*
Some cigar smokers make gift shopping easy: if the wrapper is dark and the profile is rich, they’re interested.
Monster’s Maduro Reserve is the sampler we’d choose for that person. Rather than trying to convince a dedicated Maduro smoker to branch out for the holidays, this gift leans into what they already enjoy.
Best for: the smoker who gravitates toward darker wrappers, richer profiles, and fuller-flavored cigars.
The Crowd-Pleaser
Golden Harvest Cigar Sampler
This is the kind of gift we’d look at when we know someone loves cigars but don’t know enough about their humidor to make an ultra-specific choice.
A varied sampler gives them the enjoyable part — opening the selection, deciding what to smoke first, and finding a favorite — without requiring you to know their exact wrapper or strength preference.
Best for: the cigar lover on your list when you know they smoke, but don’t know exactly what they smoke.
For Beer & Cigar Nights
Steins & Smoke Cigar Sampler
$32.95*
This one practically plans the evening for you.
Steins & Smoke is the gift for the friend who’d rather spend a Saturday night outside with a cigar and a cold pour than fight for a reservation at a crowded restaurant.
Pair it with their favorite beer and suddenly a simple sampler feels like a complete holiday gift.
Best for: your smoking buddy, beer lover, brother, neighbor, or anyone whose favorite pairing involves a cigar and a cold glass.
For the Unhurried Smoker
The Churchill Club Cigar Sampler
$43.95*
A Churchill isn’t a cigar you squeeze between errands. It’s the cigar you choose when there’s nowhere else you need to be.
That’s what makes this sampler such a nice holiday gift. It feels made for those slower evenings after dinner, when the conversation is good and nobody is checking the clock.
Best for: the experienced smoker who likes longer cigars and actually makes time to enjoy them.
The Step-Up Gift
The Good Stuff Cigar Sampler
$41.95*
Sometimes you’re not looking for a stocking stuffer. You want the cigar gift to feel like the gift.
That’s where The Good Stuff fits into our list. We’d save this one for someone you want to treat a little more — Dad, your father-in-law, your boss, the friend who hosted everyone all year, or simply the cigar smoker who’s been very good to you.
Best for: Dad, hosts, close friends, clients, or anyone who deserves something that feels a little more special.

For the Person Who Deserves More Than One Delivery
Gift That Keeps Going
Cigar of the Month Club
If one sampler doesn’t feel like enough, turn the idea into a recurring gift.
The Mike’s Cigars Cigar of the Month Club gives the cigar lover on your list something new to look forward to after the wrapping paper and Christmas tree are gone.
It’s especially useful when you’re shopping for someone who already has a well-stocked humidor. Instead of trying to guess which box they don’t own, you’re giving them the fun of discovering something over time.
How to Make a Cigar Sampler Feel Like a Bigger Gift
A sampler doesn’t have to be handed over by itself. A small accessory can turn it into a complete cigar gift without making things complicated.
For someone new to cigars, pair the sampler with a simple cutter and lighter. For an experienced smoker, consider an ashtray, travel case, or another accessory you know they’ll actually use.

Cigar Sampler Gift FAQs
Are cigar samplers good Christmas gifts?
Yes. A sampler gives the recipient several cigars to try instead of committing the entire gift to one blend. That makes it particularly useful when you know someone enjoys cigars but aren’t completely sure what they normally buy.
What cigar sampler should I buy if I don’t know what they smoke?
Look for variety rather than an extremely specific theme. A mixed sampler gives the recipient more opportunities to find something that matches their taste.
What if they only smoke Maduro cigars?
That’s actually easier. Choose a Maduro-focused sampler, such as Monster’s Maduro Reserve, rather than trying to move them away from a style you already know they enjoy.
How many cigars should I give as a gift?
There’s no magic number. A smaller sampler can make an excellent stocking stuffer, while a larger assortment or recurring cigar club can work as the main gift. The thought behind the selection matters more than simply giving the biggest quantity.
How should I store a cigar sampler before giving it?
Keep the sampler sealed as it arrived and store it in a cool, stable place away from direct sunlight and heat. If you’re holding cigars for an extended period, proper humidity becomes more important. Our guide to storing cigars properly at home explains the basics.
Should I buy a sampler or a full box as a gift?
If you know the person’s favorite cigar, a full box can be a fantastic gift. If you aren’t completely sure, a sampler is usually the safer — and often more interesting — choice.
Our Favorite Part of Giving Cigars
The best cigar gifts aren’t necessarily the most expensive ones. They’re the ones that make someone want to open the box, look through what’s inside, and start deciding which cigar gets smoked first.
That’s why samplers work so well during the holidays.
There’s an element of discovery built into the gift — and you don’t have to pretend you know the exact contents of someone else’s humidor to choose one.
Pick the sampler that sounds most like the person you’re shopping for, wrap it up, and let them handle the difficult decision: which one first?
