Quorum Cigars
QUORUM
embargo.
J.C. Newman Cigar Co. is an industry leader based in Tampa, Florida. They were the first company to individually wrap their cigars in cellophane back in 1932. Cellophane wrapping is now an industry standard.
The Quorum brand first saw ramped success in the early 90’s with the cigar boom. The brand underwent a hiatus for several years after the boom. Quorum was relaunched with a bolder medium body in the 2000’s. These cigars are available in Classic, Shade or Maduro. These cigars consist of purely Nicaraguan tobacco.
In 2010, J.C. Newman Cigar Co. opened a factory in Estelí, Nicaragua known as Puros de Estelí Nicaragua S.A., or PENSA. PENSA’s main output is Quorum brand cigars. This was the first time since the 1930’s that J.C. Newman was producing their cigars in a facility they owned, but they had to because their contracted manufacturers could not produce enough to meet the demand for Quorum.
The company remains a maverick in the cigar industry and perhaps that is why they kept the factory project under wraps for a year. The facility is a state-of-art green facility. A revolutionary air system, rainwater collection system, and lighting set-up significantly reduce the factory’s carbon footprint.
J.C. Newman Cigar Co. takes pride in making their communities a better place. The factory in Estelí has an on staff doctor for the employees and their family. They are a founding partner in the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation which gives back to the communities where their cigars are produced in the Dominican Republic.
Quorum is the most popular cigar sold in bundles, which of course are wrapped in cellophane. This budget-friendly cigar is the perfect way for an aficionado to get a solid understanding of the high-quality tobacco and innovation provided by the Newman family.
