Onyx Reserve Churchill

Mild and Soft Maduro

It was good to get back to the Onyx line after the last one I had was a lifetime ago. These are attractive, dark cigars with a smooth, matt wrapper. Construction is acceptable but could be a little better and there's a pretty decent give when squeezed. It produces a dark gray ash when smoked, as opposed to white.

I've nearly smoked the whole box and the flavor to me mid level in complexity and boldness. Nut brittle notes offer a slight sweetness, along with pecan husks and cedar. Flavors are on the dry side. It doesn't produce a billowing smoke like other sticks and the draw requires a little effort. It's not overly tight...just kind of feels stingy with the smoke and there's a nagging bitterness, especially in the second half. I've had several quit on me and have to be relit.

I don't mean to be too down on this cigar. It's not a bad choice if you want moderate boldness in a maduro package. But for where these are priced, I would probably look elsewhere...like maybe an Excalibur Dark Knight. A firmer roll might have helped this stick.

Onyx Reserve Churchill

Very good cigar. Smooth smoke.

The Onyx Reserve was the first maduro cigar I smoked. It was about 12 to 15 years ago. It was good then and it's still a really good cigar. For it's price point it maybe one of the best buys in the cigar world.

Deep rich flavor

I broke my cherry on an Onyx. It was my first "real" cigar and I was hooked. I've smoked a lot of these in my day and I've only had one cigar with a poor draw. I poked through it and got it smoked, but one tight cigar out of dozens ain't bad.

Onyx Reserve Lonsdale

ONYX RESERVE

This wonderful rich smoke exudes cedar, and a green leaf aroma with a slight spicy note. Its "Black-Coal" Connecticut wrapper and superb white ash are a testament to its perfect construction. This cigar has an even burn and the ash holds well. The Churchill is a magnificent smoke, but if you are short on time, the Lonsdale will not disappoint. Grab these now and start "toasting". ENJOY!!!
