The Montecristo No. 34 is named after the inspiration for the brand name, the Count of Monte Cristo, Edmond Dantes. In the famous tale about the eponymous count, the Governor of the prison in which Dantes is to spend the rest of his life refuses to use his name, instead calling him by his cell number, number 34.
The Monte Cristo number 34 comes in a beautifully weathered box, giving it an antique feel to go with the backstory for this line of cigars. The cigar itself features aged Nicaraguan and Dominican tobacco leaves surrounded by a dark and oily Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper. The result is a medium to full smoke with notes of cocoa, coffee and sweet spice.
