Description

La Gloria started as a little store-front factory in South 8th St. downtown Miami. Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, Cuban Senator and tobacco grower, fled Cuba in 1959, taking with him the secret of La Gloria Cubana cigars. He began making them in the heart of Little Havana in 1968, where their bold taste made them a local favorite.

In 1980, Ernesto Jr. blended a unique combination of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos to make La Gloria Cubana even more full-flavored, full-bodied, and with richer tastes. His efforts paid off, when, in 1992, Cigar Aficionado recognized the superiority of La Gloria Cubana, giving it a 90 rating. Today, La Gloria Cubana is one of the most sought-after cigars in the world.

This was my first LGC and still my favorite, great smoke with your morning coffee or after a long day. If you're a fan of other LGC blends I highly recommend adding this one to your rotation.

Anomaly?

I've been buying these for years from Mike's and never had a issue..until last year. Like others have commented, the majority of the sticks had a horrible draw and were impossible to keep lit. Very disappointing but what was more disappointing is that my email to Mike's customer service inquiring about the issue was never acknowledged. I'm ordering a box again this year hoping that last year was a fluke....both with the cigars and with customer service.

First one I smoked what not as expected

I was looking forward to this as La Gloria was my “go to” smoke for many years starting when I would go in person to El Credito to get the ones made in Miami (until I learned Mike’s were also from the local stash and at lower price). After Ernesto sold I stopped buying. But then I read these Classicos were made with the original formula and CA rated very highly. So perhaps my expectations were too high. Was lighter in strength than I remembered and the ash was grey and the burn uneven. Got much better towards the end but the journey to that joy was not as pleasant as had hoped for. At least not with the first one. Will try again…
