in Estelí, Condega, and Jalapa, the two began what was then called the Nicaragua Cigar Company. The success was almost instant, and cigars from their company soon graced such hollowed homes as The White House.
But tragically, much of what the company built was destroyed during the Sandinista Revolution. As the country was consumed by civil war, the Nicaragua Cigar Company was forced to close its doors and seek safety. Things would not improve for some time, as nationalization of the industry and an embargo kept the company from returning to its former glory.
Things finally began to turn around when Dr. Cuenca was given control of the company. Under his stewardship, coupled with the mid 90s cigar boom, Joyo de Nicaraguan began to regain some of its past luster. Since then it's been steadily growing, bringing back the blends that helped launch it back in the day. As its leaders look to the future, smokers across the world wait to see what blends will come next.
