up on that farm and working the land molded him into the man he became.
Jesus graduated with a degree in Agricultural Engineering and his thesis focused on fermentation. Right after college, he went to work for a former neighbor and family friend. That neighbor was Julio Eiora, the man who first grew Camacho tobacco outside of Cuba.
The work Jesus was doing with tobacco brought him out of Cuba; he cultivated tobacco in other exotic places like Honduras and Nicaragua. Jesus made a name for himself and started working with other big names in the cigar industry, including Rocky Patel and Nestor Plasencia.
In 2006, Jesus was inspired by his mentors to start up his own brand. This decision gave him complete freedom to focus on his own brands and master his own blends.
The first two lines released under J. Fuego featured Honduran Corojo tobacco that had been aged since Jesus’ time working with Plasencia. These lines were extremely limited but they shaped the company as a boutique cigar producer.
J. Fuego produces several exciting and decadent lines with exotic tobaccos. The J. Fuego Origen line features a silky Brazilian Corojo wrapper and Corojo filler grown from Cuban seeds. J. Fuego Connoisseur has tobacco from four different countries including Mexico, Ecuador, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
In 2016, Jesus opened a new factory in Nicaragua. This was an important move for the J. Fuego Cigar Company because they no longer had to rely on Plasencia for cigars.
The proof is in the pudding. Cigar Aficionado regularly ranks J. Fuego cigars at 90 or above. In 2012, the J. Fuego Sangre De Toro was named one of the best bargains of the year. The cigar lines range from medium to full-bodied strength.
Authenticity, passion, and Cuban pride are the essence of each and every J. Fuego cigar. The hard work and dedication are evident in the quality of these cigars. Jesus refers to connoisseurs who enjoy J. Fuego cigars as “Rockstars”. Become an icon by simply enjoying a remarkable J. Fuego Cigar.
