AL CAPONE
Rudolf Eichenberger to form Burger Söhne Holding AG. They soon grew to be the largest cigar operation in Switzerland. In 1988, they acquired Dannemann GmbH and became the third largest cigar manufacturer in the world and merged the two companies name to be Dannemann AG.
Dannemann GmbH was founded by the legendary entrepreneur Geraldo Dannemann. Gerhard Dannemann left Germany and arrived in Bahia, Brazil in 1872. He settled in the small town São Félix and changed his first name to the Brazilian Portuguese translation, Geraldo.
Dannemann gained rapid popularity in the town as he built up its tobacco industry by working with over 200 local family farms. Eventually, he was elected as the town’s mayor and made smart decisions which put the small town on the global cigar map. Dannemann is remembered as a paramount industrialist for the region.
The Brazilian farms provide the dark rich natural wrappers on Al Capone cigarillos and cigars. Filler tobacco is sourced from Nicaragua. The cigarillos and cigars are assembled in by talented torcedors in Danlí, Honduras.
All Al Capone blends are dipped in either cognac or rum and dry-cured. Al Capone’s largest offering is the 5 ½ in long Sweet Cigar with a 26 ring gauge. Despite the smaller sized offering Al Capone products still pack a flavorful punch. They also offer cigarillos with luxury filters.
Al Capone was regarded as the modern day Robin Hood because he helped bring up his neighborhood and regularly gave back to his community and charities. Dannemann was very much like Capone, minus the crime aspect because he put a lot of effort into improving his community. This legacy lives on today with Dannemann AG’s adopt-a-tree program which combats the deforestation of the Amazonian rainforest.
The short smoke time makes Al Capone’s selection perfect for the modern day busy man. The brand’s motto reads “No Comment” but it is hard to stay quiet about products that are this good. Get the best deal for them here at Mike’s Cigars.
