This latest offering marks a fresh achievement from Rafael Nodal and A J Fernandez, drawing inspiration from the blend that earned top honors as Cigar of the Year in twenty nineteen.
The cigar begins with a meticulous choice of Nicaraguan tobacco. At its core is filler made from a harvest taken almost twelve years ago from the Los Espejos farm, a project overseen by Fernandez. The outer wrapper is a unique variety of Criollo ninety eight, cultivated at the La Lilia farm in Estelí.
According to Nodal, the tobacco grown on these farms tends to develop thicker leaves. These require extended time to ferment and age properly, resulting in a richer and more rewarding flavor profile.
At six inches and a sixty ring gauge, this Gordo is a grand hour long smoke.
