MY FATHER
Rather than following a single blend formula, My Father Cigars spans several distinct lines that show the range of the Garcia family's tobacco work. Flor de las Antillas helped establish the brand's broader reputation with an all-Nicaraguan profile and a No. 1 Cigar of the Year honor from Cigar Aficionado in 2012 for the Toro, while Le Bijou 1922 earned the same publication's top ranking in 2015 for the 5 1/8 x 52 Torpedo Box Press. Across the brand, smokers will find blends that move from medium-bodied and rounded to fuller, more concentrated expressions, but the common thread is a firm identity shaped by Nicaraguan tobacco, traditional technique, and the Garcia family's blending sensibility.

Rating100%My Father No. 4 - LanceroIt's GreatVery little harshness to speak of and lots of light, oaty flavors in the beginning. It has something more than the leathery notes of the usual Nicaraguan cigar, but I'm at a bit of a loss for how to describe it. It's more... leafy, maybe? It's got a distinct flavor that reminds me of the earthy smell you get when turning over damp leaves. That might make it sound unpleasant, but it definitely isn't. It's tastefully mixed in with the caramel and spice notes of the rest of the body. I suspect that the leafiness comes from the unique wrapper: an Ecuadorian Habano-Rosado leaf that's thin and toothy. The nicotine is very mild; I can smoke the whole thing without worrying about a headache.

Rating100%My Father Toro SelectionMy Father Toro SamplerWow, this is an awesome sampler! Glad I was able to purchase one before Mike's ran out. You get 2 My Father, 2 Don Pepin and 1 Jaime Garcia cigars that are well worth the cost by itself, but you also get a serviceable Cutter and Lighter. I haven't smoked them all yet, but so far, I have been really pleased with the Garica Reserve and Pepin Original flavor profiles.
