The line is handmade at the HATSA factory in Danlí, Honduras, and built around a dark Honduran wrapper with Honduran binder and filler tobaccos, making it a true Honduran puro rather than simply a Honduran-style extension.
That all-Honduran composition gives the collection a profile that is richer and earthier than many smokers associate with traditional Hoyo de Monterrey. Across the line, Epicure Seleccion is generally described in medium to full-bodied terms, with notes of cedar, pepper, leather, coffee, and underlying natural sweetness. The emphasis is on depth and texture more than delicacy, which sets it apart within the broader Hoyo portfolio.

I really like these Hoyo Epicure! After a few weeks in the humidor they have been great. Great draw and good flavor. They're probably my new favorite for Hoyo de Monterrey along with the Rojo, which is also a nice daily smoke and they both taste better over a short time.

Epicure?
The term Epicure is usually reserved for upper-tier quality... this is the first time I've seen it attached to a low quality product. No interesting flavors, ragged wrapper, burned ok with a good draw... tasted like a cheap bundle cigar. So far my 60 dollar batch of sampler Hoyo's has been a bust. Fingers crossed for the final stick; a Hoyo Excalibur. Praying for a glimmer of its past greatness.

Nice cigar!
You know, I was browsing the site, like I usually do, looking for those hot samplers that I know Mike's is famous for. I rarely buy boxes but then I saw this brand new Hoyo line banner (Hoyo de Monterrey is in my top 5 list) and decided to buy me a box. Mike's got it to me fast as usual. I have only smoked one so far but I already like them. A strong spicy flavor kicks right from the start. Great even burn throughout the whole smoking experience (about 30'). The rest is history.
