The 1844 Reserve Toro is a wonderful medium to full bodied cigar from H Upmann. First notes are of rich leather, followed by a subtle sweetness and toasted oak. The rich veiny Ecuadorian wrapper imparts a leathery scent and the burn is typical H Upmann near perfectly even. My stick was a bit on the moist side due to typical summertime humidor spikes so the draw was a bit firmer than I like but the flavor made it worth the it! If your H Upmann doesn’t look or burn like this it was probably damaged after it left the factory. H Upmann’s are known for their quality. Another great cigar.

I thought they wouldn't be special but man I loved em. They have a nice mild tone and burn evenly. Great if you want to try the H. Upmann brand as a starter. Great cigar and nice size to.

Very Disappointed
I'll start by saying I've never been a big fan of H. Upmann's cigars except for the Vintage Cameroon, which along with the A. Fuente’s Don Carlos Robusto are my favorite Cameroon wrapped cigars. However, these got such good reviews I thought I'd try them. I've been sorely disappointed. The first one lit up OK, but the draw was tight and got progressively worse until I gave up on it halfway through the stick. Not a big deal, it's happened before but was usually a one-off. Unfortunately, the second one was even worse. I determined it was very tight at the head end and tried to loosen it up with my PerfecDraw. No dice. That one went in the trash as well. Tried a third yesterday evening and although it drew much better and I could get some of the flavor others talked about, it required several touch-ups. Sorry H. Upmann, but you clearly have construction issues with this cigar. It's doubtful I will be back.
