The premium handmade Gran Habano #5 Corojo Honduran cigar, from Guillermo and George Rico’s boutique brand, is known for its rich flavor and exceptional tobacco. One of the most popular blends in the Gran Habano lineup, this gem is a full bodied smoke designed for the true cigar connoisseur. Each cigar in this line is lovingly hand rolled in Honduras, using a blend of Costa Rican and Nicaraguan long-fillers wrapped in a flawless Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper. The No. 5 Corojo offers a spicy, rich and salty smoking experience, featuring creamy notes of coffee with a touch of nuts and earth. With the rich, full smoke experience, and surprisingly low price point, this cigar is a favorite that can be found in the humidor of many a cigar aficionado.
I've been on a quest to find a robust smoke in the "Nub" size and shape category, without paying Nub prices, and I have to say this fits the bill nicely. I love the 60 gauges, but I can't always commit to the time it takes to smoke a magnum (6x60). Enter this nifty little 4x60 Shorty Robusto!
To look at it, it seems pretty unassuming. There is a simple elegance to the red bill-board style label around each cigar that simply says, "Corojo #5." The Nicaraguan wrapper has that nice red muddy quality that I just love. It's shiny, not toothy or gritty and with very few veins. I'd put its firmness at about 4/5. The light-ups and draw are perfect and so far, I've been through half a box of these. I have experienced no canoeing or plugs. I think that may also be one of the benefits of a four inch cigar. It produces a salt and pepper colored ash which is more on the firm, mostly non-flaky side, so it drops off well when thumped. The flavor...a notable blend of sweet and savory along with a hint of tanginess. A little smoked ham and noticeable notes of pine cones and pineapple bark. Also, a little cedar. It's mellow and only mildly spicy and the smoke possesses a creaminess that I usually only find in more Connecticut Shade types.
I'd say this is a good call for the beginner-turned-intermediate smoker who is looking to engage in more complex pastures. It won't let you down and there is no fighting with it. The price is right, too. I'm always trying a good many new cigars each year and I believe this is one of my best discoveries of 2024!

A great hour and a half smoke that has plenty of flavor from start to finish. I've been smoking cigars for 13 years and this is my "Go To" favorite. If you like Full flavor without the head spins, this is your cigar!
The price point might encourage you as well

Gran Habano Corojo #5
This cigar is small but has a smoking time of approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. I have smoke many cigars over the past 13 years and this one is my favorite. The strength is full but not overpowering, and the construction is almost always flawless. Give it try; you'll be glad you did.
This was a great cigar with an experience that you will be disappointed when it’s over.
At light up I got some spice in the back of my throat not really on the retro. Started with earthy notes with a light chocolate and some leather. The earthy note from light was the strongest for most of the cigar. Going into the final 3rd, was my favorite section, it had a great bitter dark chocolate note with a balanced sweetness to finish it off. It was a medium body with a smooth creamy texture smoke and a perfect draw.

Gran Habano #5 Corojo Lancero
That's a lancero!
Not often really appreciated, the lanceros are very hard work to make them smoke.
One of my favorite cigars is the famous Cohiba lancero which is amazing, but hard for the pocket. This one is very similar, easy to smoke with lots of fun, very spicy and might ask you to get rid of it as quick as possible. So you are on the brakes. If I consider all the lanceros I smoke, I would say that this one is the one. And so elegant. A jewell for a lady or a young milord.
Try it, you shall be surprised.

Gran Habano #5 Corojo Rothschild
ADEPT OF RANGE GRAN HABANO COROJO # 5
The Rothschild module is a very nice format that I particularly like. A little shorter than the robusto, the divine happens much faster and manure is almost nonexistent. This cigar is delicious, light, discreet, it is no less satisfying and more at a modest price, I still have two three boxes in my humidor. Ideal for coffee breaks.

Il me plait beaucoup
