Introduced in 2014, EP Carrillo La Historia was created as a tribute to the Perez-Carrillo family legacy and marked the company’s first box-pressed regular-production line. The blend is made at Tabacalera La Alianza in the Dominican Republic, using a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. That combination gives the collection a darker, richer profile than many traditional Dominican cigars while still reflecting Ernesto Perez-Carrillo’s measured approach to balance.

Across the line, La Historia is generally associated with notes of cocoa, espresso, earth, pepper, and natural sweetness, delivered at a medium-to-full-bodied level. It is also one of the most recognized releases in the EP Carrillo portfolio: the La Historia E-III received 95 points and was named the No. 2 Cigar of 2014 by Cigar Aficionado. That distinction helped establish La Historia as one of the defining modern blends from EP Carrillo, valued for its combination of box-pressed construction, San Andrés depth, and family-centered identity.
