An old-world fermentation method defines CAO Pilon more than any single wrapper or vitola. Introduced in 2015, the line was developed around pilón fermentation, in which tobacco is stacked in round piles to build heat gradually and deepen color and flavor. For this blend, CAO pairs an Ecuadorian Habano viso wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and fillers, then uses that process to bring extra richness and texture to a medium-bodied profile.

Across the line, the smoking character tends to center on nuts, cocoa, cedar, spice, and pepper rather than sharp intensity, giving CAO Pilon a fuller sense of depth without pushing into heavy strength. The collection also helped distinguish itself within the broader CAO portfolio by tying a historical tobacco-handling technique to a modern regular-production release, making it one of the brand’s more process-driven blends.
