A darker extension of the original Enclave, AJ Fernandez Enclave Broadleaf was introduced in 2017 as the first cigar in AJ Fernandez’s own portfolio to use a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. The line is made at Tabacalera AJ Fernandez in Estelí, Nicaragua, with a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers that bring together tobaccos from growing regions including Estelí and Jalapa.
That blend gives the collection a fuller, earthier profile than the original Enclave while keeping the balance that defines the series. Across the line, AJ Fernandez Enclave Broadleaf is known for notes of earth, pepper, mineral, dark sweetness, and touches of cocoa and spice, delivering a medium-full to full-bodied smoke built around Broadleaf richness rather than sheer weight.
The line also earned meaningful critical attention early in its run. I was a little disappointed in the cigar.
It had quite a bite during the first third. get mellowed by the second third. And the final third was much smoother, but still a disappointing smoke overall.
I compare my cigars to my standard, my father Le Bijou, 1922.

Great cigars, my favorite offering from AJF. If you have one you’ll be hooked. Mike’s did a great job getting these to me. Granted I live about a 4 hour drive on the west coast of FL but I ordered yesterday around 5pm and they delivered today at 2pm. You have the best prices compared to where I have always bought before. Veteran smoke. I have tried the robusto and the torpedo and I found that the Churchill doesn't give you as much intensity on the last third as the aforementioned. Still a great cigar but compared to the others it's a four out of five.
