TE AMO

Te Amo cigars are the classic Mexican puro. The Turrent family was the pioneer of Mexican tobacco and the founders of the Te Amo brand. Aficionados owe an enormous debt of gratitude to the Turrent family and the enlightenment they provided to the cigar industry.
In the 1880’s, Alberto Turrent immigrated to Mexico. Alberto was born in Spain but had spent a great deal of time in Cuba.
When he settled in Mexico, he brought along Cuban tobacco seeds and found that the fertile volcanic soil of the San Andres region was optimal for cultivating exquisite flavorful tobacco.
For four generations, the Turrent family grew tobacco for other people to use. Then in 1963, the Te Amo brand was established by the fourth generation of the Turrent family, who is also happens to be named Alberto.
The Te Amo cigars quickly became the top cigar brand in Mexico and by the next year they were being sold in the United States. New York was by far the biggest market for Te Amo, at one point 60% of Te Amo sales were in New York.
During the 70’s, Te Amo gained a strong following and attracted big players in the cigar industry to do business. Eventually, Consolidated Cigar Co. took up the Te Amo distribution. In 2000, Consolidated Cigar Co. merged with Altadis and Te Amo became an Altadis-owned brand but is still produced by the Turrent family.
The fifth Turrent generation, Alejandro, also joined the family business. Alejandro started out working in the family factory and became one of the most respected cigar makers in the industry. After the merger, Alejandro landed a position as an Altadis cigar master.
When Te Amo was first released, Mexican laws prohibited the use of foreign tobaccos in Mexican cigars. The NAFTA agreement, which eased trade among North America, gave Te Amo the creative freedom to feature tobaccos from other countries in Mexican cigars.
Te Amo took advantage of the opportunity. They added lines such as the Te Amo World Selection Series and Te Amo Revolution, which feature tobacco from other places including the Dominican Republic, Connecticut, and Nicaragua.
Te Amo cigars range from medium to full-bodied strength. Te Amo cigars are widely regarded as the best example of the fine quality tobacco Mexico has to offer. Cigar Aficionado has rated Te Amo cigars 90+ and named Te Amo one of the Best Buys of 2014.
Some aficionados have been brainwashed to believe that only Cuban tobaccos are worth smoking. That’s not the case! Mexican tobacco has a complex delectable taste profile and aroma.  Mexican tobacco is also more affordable due to its proximity to the United States.
Te Amo translates to “I Love You”. The Turrent family truly loves the aficionados who enjoy their cigars. They prove it with the passionate dedication they have to maintain the high quality of Te Amo cigars and the tobacco they grow. Spark your affair with Mexican tobacco and pick up a budget-friendly Te Amo cigar from Mike’s Cigars.
