MR B

Who is Mr. B? And why is a cigar brand named after him? Mr. B happens to be a cigar brand named in honor of the cigar industry legend Daniel Blumenthal.
Blumenthal got his first taste of the cigar world when he was 14 years old. He worked alongside his father in a cigar shop in New York City. One could say he was born and bred to create great cigars.
Blumenthal went on to start his
own business importing Cuban cigars, such as El Rey del Mundo and Ramon Allones. Blumenthal worked with several big names in the industry most notably, Frank Llaneza.
Blumenthal and Llaneza owned Villazon and Company. They were cautious of the political relationship between America and Cuba and anticipated that the Cuban Embargo would happen. To prepare, they bought up as much Cuban tobacco they could, even if the bales were unwanted they wanted it.
After the Cuban Embargo, Blumenthal was able to register Hoyo de Monterrey and Punch, two of the most popular Cuban brands, in the United States. Up until the 1970’s, the brands’ cigars were produced in Honduras and were blended with the Cuban tobacco they had conserved.
Blumenthal and Llaneza are considered genius’ for the cigars they created. They found opportunities where there seemingly were none. The mark they made on the cigar industry lives on to this day and they’ve earned themselves the title as Cigar Hall-of-Famers.
Mr. B cigars are mellow and available in three different wrappers including Maduro, candela, and Ecuadorian Sumatra. The filler blend consists of hand-selected Nicaraguan tobacco. The Nicaraguan American Tobacco S.A. factory produces these cigars, along with other industry favorites such as Asylum and Acme.
