Christian Luis Eiroa, the eponymous founder of C.L.E. Cigar Company, was born and bred in a tobacco family legacy that spanned back to the 1800s.
His grandfather, Generoso J. Eiroa Sr., emigrated from Spain to Cuba and went from a ship captain for The Cuban Land & Leaf Tobacco Company, to a major supplier of production needs for Cuban tobacco farmers, and eventually owner of a 70 acre
tobacco farm, Victoria Alvarez de la Campa in the Vuelta Abajo Valley in Pinar del Rio, Cuba.
His father, Julio Eiroa, after he took part in the Bay of Pigs invasion with the United States, worked with cigarmaking revolutionary Angel Oliva, and established his own farm in the Jamastran Valley in Honduras, bought up various farms owned by the Honduran government, and became the largest Candela tobacco farmer by 1972.
Moreover, Julio Eiroa founded Caribe Imported Cigars in Miami, FL and brought together a portfolio of iconic brands, including Camacho Cigars, through which he introduced his recreation of the beloved Corojo tobacco strain.
In 2008, with his father’s decision to sell his brands to the Oettinger Davidoff Group, Christian Luis Eiroa found himself working under the Oettinger Davidoff Group, at the head of the brands his father built, with the weight of two centuries of Eiroa heritage on his shoulders. Christian had already established a respectable career in cigars, having served as President of Caribe Imported Cigars, and almost single-handedly developed the distinctly bold character that has come to define Camacho Cigars.
Christian, however, needed more—his family legacy challenged him, and by 2011 he set out to introduce his own entry into the annals of cigarmaking history. Christian, together with Tom Lazuka, who had also worked with Camacho Cigars, founded C.L.E. Cigar Company in July of 2012. Christian’s goal was to create a premium smoke with masterful blends that the cigarmaking world had never seen before.
C.L.E. Cigar Company maintains true to this goal as it has created several celebrated cigars that have ranked at a 90 rating and above by both Cigar Journal and Cigar Aficionado. Between 2013 and 2016, three different vitolas of the C.L.E. Corojo was rated at 90 and above; and more recently the C.L.E. Chele was rated at a 92 in 2016.
In addition to producing acclaimed cigars with the C.L.E. name, C.L.E. Cigar Company also distributes several in-house and associated cigar brands including Salud Amor y Pesetas, Asylum, Wynwood, Edgar Hoill Cigars, and Reyes Family Cigars.
Christian, through C.L.E. Cigar Company, has only begun to make his mark in the world of premium cigars. You can enjoy the heritage, passion, and future of the latest entry in the prolific Eiroa family legacy by experiencing one of the various acclaimed C.L.E. Cigars by Christian Luis Eiroa.
