BANCES (discontinued)

A brand born in Cuba in the year 1840, Bances cigars was originally created by Francisco G. Bances, and became famous for being the very first cigar to boast a double band. Despite some initial success waning popularity led to the demise of Bances in 1886.
Fast forward to 1959 when Bances was reborn in Tampa Florida. Looking to capitalize on the demand for Cuban tobacco the team behind the
brand took to buying all the Havana tobacco they could get their hands on, creating a popular US based cigar that used Cuban long-filler in all their cigars.
When the Cuban embargo was enacted demand for Cuban cigars skyrocketed, and Bances, having brought over a substantial quantity of Habano tobacco before the embargo, became one of the only pure-Havana leaf cigars available to purchase in the US legally. With the surging demand for their product, Bances was catapualted to the top of the US tobacco world, with their product selling out almost as fast as they could make them.
As their stock of Cuban tobacco dwindled, Bances began their search for a new source for premium tobacco, looking for a leaf that was as similar to their original offering as possible. Their searches led them to Honduras and the fertile soil that was favorable to the Habano seed they sought to produce.
Today Bances continues to produce their premium hand-rolled cigars in Honduras, while their smaller, machine-made, cigars being produced at their headquarters in Cigar City Florida. It is important to note that there is also a Canadian based Bances brand, produced by House of Horvath, and is distributed exclusively in Canada.
